Install Ad-Hoc Apps using iTunes

Use this method if you have your iPhone or iPod Touch synced to your iTunes. Otherwise, use iPhone Configuration Utility

What you'll need:

  • .zip file containing a .mobileprovision file and a .app file.
  • The iPhone or iPod Touch whose Identifier (UDID) you sent us.
  • The computer with iTunes you have synced with your iPhone or iPod Touch.

Steps:

  1. Unzip the file containing the .mobileprovision file and the .app file (on Mac) or .app folder (on Windows).
  2. Drag-and-drop the .mobileprovision file onto Library -> Applications area in iTunes.
  3. Sync your phone with your iTunes. After syncing, if you go to Settings -> General and scroll down you will find Profiles. Verify the profile for the app is listed.
  4. Drag-and-drop the .app file (for Mac) or folder (for Windows) onto Library -> Applications area in iTunes.
  5. Verify that the app appears in the Applications area. If you have a previous version of the app installed it will ask if you want to replace it. Select "Replace".
  6. Select your iPhone or iPod Touch in iTunes under Devices.
  7. Go to the Applications tab and make sure the new application is checked.
  8. Sync your device to install the app on your phone.
  9. The app should appear on your device after the sync has finished.

Install Ad-Hoc Apps using iPhone Configuration Utility

What you'll need:

  • .zip file containing a .mobileprovision file and a .app file.
  • The iPhone or iPod Touch whose Identifier (UDID) you sent us.
  • iPhone Configuration Utility for Mac OS X or Windows installed on your computer.

Steps:

  1. Unzip the file containing the .mobileprovision file and the .app file.
  2. Run iPhone Configuration Utility.
  3. Go to Provisioning Profiles in the Library area in iPhone Configuration Utility.
  4. Click on the Add button and select the .mobileprovision file. Verify that the provision profile appears in the list.
  5. Go to Applications in the Library area.
  6. Click on the Add button and select the .app file. If you have a previous version of the app installed it will ask if you want to replace it. Select "Replace".
  7. Select your device from the Devices area.
  8. Go to the Provision Profiles tab.
  9. Find the provision profile in the list and click Install.
  10. Go to the Applications tab.
  11. Find the application in the list. If you had previously installed the application then you will need to click on the Uninstall button and then click on the Install button.
  12. After installation the app should appear on your device.
